Twin River Rafting and Tahune Airwalk

Tahune Adventures has partnered with Wild Journeys to bring you the Twin River Rafting Experience.

As we paddle along the rivers, you’ll get to experience the true essence of Tasmania’s wild beauty. The picturesque Picton and Huon Rivers are renowned for their rich diversity of endemic plant species, including Huon Pines, Tasmanian Waratahs, Leatherwoods, and Native Bush Peppers, alongside a variety of other native rainforest and eucalyptus species. The trip includes a river side stop where we'll provide a hot drink and a delicious locally made snack.

Trips are around 3.5 hours in length including, briefs, kitting up and getting to the river, this can however be a bit longer or shorter depending on the levels and how many boats are on the water. This leaves plenty of time to explore more of what the surrounding forests have to offer, our trip includes entrance into the Tahune Airwalk where we'll start and finish our journey from.

What to expect on the ever-changing river: Regardless of the river’s flow, we guarantee an adventure to remember!

In today’s world, it’s becoming increasingly rare to find wild, flowing rivers free from dams or industrial disruption. We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to work and offer trips on such pristine waters. However, as with any river that flows as nature intends, we are unable to predict what the levels will be more than a few days in advance. Tasmanian weather can be quite variable, and while higher flows are typically seen in winter and spring, we can have any level at any time of year and we embrace whatever conditions the day and river brings.

During medium to high flows, we’ll paddle the river in our big rafts, steered by our experienced guides you’ll get the opportunity to paddle some adventure packed white water on up to grade 3 rapids, experiencing the full glory of the Picton River over a thrilling 9km journey.

On lower flow days, typically during the height of summer, we offer a more serene river journey experience and although this section may be shorter, covering the bottom 4km of our full trip, it’s just as beautiful and with less water pushing us down the river it provides more time to relax and soak in the stunning surroundings, but with just enough fun grade 2 rapids to encounter that keep the excitement alive.

What’s more, to add to the excitement you’ll be steering your own two-person raft—whether solo or with a partner— all the while our guides supporting you along the way to ensure your safety and provide instruction on maneuvering your craft.

We look forward to adventuring with you soon!
