Tahune Adventures remains closed due to extensive bush fire damage 12 months ago. Fortunately the iconic Airwalk and Visitor Centre were unaffected, however there is extensive fire damage to the forest and site—predominantly the walk to the Airwalk and directly beneath.
We have all been working incredibly hard to renew the site ready for reopening, and our thanks go to Sustainable Timber Tasmania who have led the restoration project in consultation with Tahune Adventures. Work has focused on removal and pruning of fire impacted trees and vegetation, with many tall trees being felled and remain on site. Extensive track repairs to the Huon Pine Walk and a section of the Swinging Bridge Walk is ongoing.
While the forest has been significantly impacted, fire is a natural part of the landscape and it is positive to see the forest regeneration starting to happen—it fills us with hope for the future of the site and surrounding areas.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Tahune Adventures soon, where you’ll be able to see this new stage of regrowth and renewal in person.
Our opening date will be revealed in the coming weeks.
